SoC Firmware Lead Engineer

As the System-on-Chip (SoC) Firmware Lead Engineer for Axiado, reporting to the SVP of Engineering, you will be responsible for defining firmware architecture, and designing, building, bench testing, and debugging firmware for new emerging security processor products. This is an opportunity to join one of the industry’s leading companies in Smart Edge SoCs for IIoT, network/systems control, and management security systems.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop system architecture, translating algorithms to firmware designs;
  • Define firmware architecture and implementation specifications;
  • Build and enhance firmware development and validation methodology;
  • Design high performance firmware for cutting-edge silicon for secure systems;
  • Debug, optimize, and validate firmware design on a SoC platform;
  • Lead bring-up of FPGA/ASIC systems;
  • Perform system failure analysis on firmware related issues; and
  • Lead a group of firmware engineers to deliver requested firmware modules.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS


  • Technical expertise in SoC architecture for network and compute systems;
  • Deep understanding of device drivers, DMA controllers, SPI drivers, and open-source drivers like FreeBSD;
  • Extensive experience in open-source driver modification and related features;
  • Solid understanding and working experience with hardware-based security management algorithms;
  • Strong working knowledge of software engineering principles and designing and developing firmware using C/C++ programming and assembly, Python experience a plus;
  • Extensive experience with firmware code review, testing and validation methodology;
  • Solid understanding and experience with microprocessors, RISC-V experience a plus;
  • Innovative problem-solving and strong debugging skills in embedded firmware applications;
  • Knowledge of the Agile software development process lifecycle;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams; and
  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 7+ years of industry experience.
